Reaksyon sa mga pulong ni Jesus

Ebanghelyo subong nga Adlaw (Juan 7:40-53)

Madamo sa mga tawo ang nakabati sang ginhambal ni Jesus, kag nagsiling ang iban, "Ini nga tawo amo na gid ang Propeta nga aton ginapaabot."

Nagsiling man ang iban, "Amo na ini ang Cristo!" Pero nagsiling pa gid ang iban, "Indi, kay indi mahimo nga ang Cristo magahalin sa Galilea.

Indi bala nagasiling ang Kasulatan nga ang Cristo magahalin sa kaliwat ni David, kag matawo sa banwa sang Betlehem nga lugar ni David."

Gani lain-lain ang pagpati sang mga tawo parte kay Jesus.

Ang iban didto gusto magdakpon sa iya, pero wala gid sing may nagpangisog sa pagdakop sa iya.

Karon, nagbalik ang mga guwardya sang templo sa mga manugdumala nga mga pari kag mga Pariseo nga nagsugo sa ila agod dakpon si Jesus. Pag-abot sang mga guardia, nagsiling dayon ang nagsugo sa ila, "Ngaa wala ninyo siya pagdakpa kag dalhon diri?"

Nagsiling ang mga guardia, "Karon pa gid lang kami nakabati sang tawo nga nagahambal pareho sadto."

Nagsiling ang mga Pariseo, "Ang buot ninyo hambalon pati kamo natunto niya man?

May nakita bala kamo nga mga Pariseo kag mga manugdumala nga nagatuo sa iya?

Wala gid! Ang mga tawo lang gid nga wala kahibalo sang Kasuguan ni Moises ang nagatuo sa iya. Pakamalauton gid sila sang Dios."

Ang isa sini sa ila nga mga Pariseo amo si Nicodemo. Amo ini siya ang tawo nga nagpakigkita anay kay Jesus.

Nagsiling siya sa iya mga kaupod, "Indi bala nga kontra sa aton kasuguan ang pagsentensya sa tawo nga wala ta pa nabatian sa iya mismo kon ano ang iya ginhimo?"

Nagsiling sila kay Nicodemo, "Ano, daw sa taga-Galilea ka man. Usisaa bala ang Kasulatan kag makita mo nga wala gid sing propeta sang Dios nga magahalin sa Galilea."

[Pagkatapos sadto nagapalauli sila tanan.]

Prayers:

"Lord Jesus, your gospel brings joy and freedom. May I be loyal to you always, even though it produce a cross on earth, that I may share in your crown in eternity".

Reflection of the Daily Gospel:

Who is Jesus for you? And are you ready to give him your full allegiance? No one could be indifferent for long when confronted with Jesus and his message. It caused division for many in Israel. Some believed he was a prophet, some the Messiah, and some believed he was neither. The reaction of the officers was bewildered amazement. They went to arrest him and returned empty-handed because they never heard anyone speak as he did. The reaction of the chief priests and Pharisees was contempt. The reaction of Nicodemus was timid. His heart told him to defend Jesus, but his head told him not to take the risk.

There will often come a time when we have to take a stand for Christ and for the gospel. To stand for Jesus may provoke mockery or unpopularity. It may even entail hardship, sacrifice, and suffering. There are fundamentally two choices we must choose between: to have our lives fueled by God’s selfless love for others or by our own self-centered love and selfish desires, to be loyal to God’s wise rule and kingdom laws or to the standards of a worldly kingdom opposed to God, to be servants of Jesus our Master or slaves of sin and Satan. Are you ready to stand for Jesus and to show him honor and loyalty whatever it may cost you?
